At Prison and Police Law, the goal is to help you resolve your situation, not to profit off your misfortune. We are pleased to offer a variety of billing arrangements depending on your financial capacity. Please contact Prison & Police Law for more information about the services offered if you’ve experienced unfair treatment and your situation isn’t addressed here.

Initial consults by phone or videoconference are $250+ GST.

 

Parole board hearings, appeals, and judicial reviews

If you need a lawyer to represent you on a parole matter, get in touch. Fees variable depending on whether you are seeking a assistance with a hearing, appeal, or judicial review.

 

Human rights complaints

If you were discriminated against based on a protected ground while incarcerated in a provincial or federal facility, or by a municipal police service or the RCMP, get in touch. Flexible billing is available.

Police complaints

If you need a lawyer to assist you with a complaint about a municipal police officer or RCMP officer, reach out. This service is estimated at $2000.

 

Civil claims against corrections or a police service

We do not take a large number of these claims but will be happy to collect your records and assess the strength of your case. This service is estimated at $2000.

Habeas corpus applications

If you need a lawyer to help you bring an application for habeas corpus as the result of an unlawful detention, this service is billed hourly, estimated at $5000 if no questioning on affidavits is required.

 

Law Enforcement Review Board appeals

If you are interested in appealing a decision under the Police Act to the Law Enforcement Review Board, get in touch to discuss how we might be able to work with you. Fees variable.

Please note: Prison and Police Law is unfortunately unable to offer legal services to those experiencing detention under the Mental Health Act.
